Over 5 Million Bricks: LEGO Times Square X-Wing Reveal!

Recently, everyone’s favorite building block company, LEGO, unveiled the largest LEGO model ever assembled in the world: a full scale, 23 ton replica of a Star Wars X-Wing that was comprised of over 5 million LEGO pieces. The unveiling was a massive 3-day event in New York City’s Time Square, and Lensley pulled out all the stops for this incredible event!

A life-size replica of an X-Wing isn’t just meant to be looked at, it’s meant to be experienced — and Lensley had just the solution. We mounted two cameras outside the ship, capturing the front and back of the X-Wing, and also mounted a LEGO Lensley device inside the cockpit. When fans took the pilot’s seat and snapped a Lensley photo, all three cameras captured a unique triptych image of the three views of the ship. Users could then head to a Lensley sharing station to post the photo to all their social channels as well as print a copy for themselves!

A Star Wars event wouldn’t be a Star Wars event without a Jedi Master present. Don’t worry, Lensley also had a custom wrapped Lensley Automatic device set up in front of a model LEGO Yoda (complete with an “NY I ❤” shirt).

Despite the gray skies and rain, fans of all ages lined up for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Three days of LEGO, Jedi Masters, furry Wookies and Lensley captured it all! The Force was strong with us.

Lincoln: Hello, Again

0084-strip-51

Earlier this year, The Lincoln Motor Company celebrated the launch of  “Hello, Again,” a multi-platform program supporting reinterpretations of iconic works resulting in fresh, new creations. The kickoff celebration took place on the Twentieth Century Fox Studio lot and featured the new Lincoln MKZ and a vintage Lincoln Zephyr, with Lensley there to capture some great moments.

wristbands1

Each guest was given a custom printed RFID wristband that was registered with their name and email address (either in advance or on-site), allowing the whole experience to be personalized and shared. When they entered the event, guests’ wristbands were scanned with a smartphone prompting their name to appear instantly on a projected screen, under the words, “Hello, Again” as they made their way into the main event space.

To top it off, the brand new Lincoln MKZ that was featured at the event wasn’t simply gorgeous eye candy — Lensley turned it into an automotive photo booth! Lensley set up an in-car photo solution, using a remote-triggered camera, to capture guests in the driver (and passenger) seat! And of course, Lensley ambassadors were on hand to help guests through the entire process. Once a photo was chosen, guests tapped their wristbands on a 7-inch tablet, automatically delivering their photo (complete with social sharing links!) to them via email.

The interaction didn’t end there! The 360° display room featured a real-time projected slideshow of images taken that night. Our friends at Soho Events captured some great video of the whole evening, which you can see on their website here.

(Oh, and did we mention that the “Hello, Again” event featured Beck performing Bowie’s iconic “Sound and Vision” with a 167-piece ensemble? Yeah.)

The Boys & Girls Club: 18th Annual Gala

The Boys & Girls Club of Burbank and Greater East Valley recently held their 18th Annual Gala & Fundraiser, to raise money for their chapter and celebrate the individuals and companies that support them. Lensley loves supporting the Los Angeles community, and in the spirit of the event, we donated our services to ensure the best moments of the nights were caught on camera!

Guests of all ages donned their finest evening wear and got their photos taken with the Lensley Automatic device. Afterward, they were able to take a print (or two) home with them as a fun souvenir of the event!

Lensley @ Hype Hotel 2013

We’re always cooking up fun new stuff back at Lensley HQ, so when our friends at Hype Machine dropped us a line a couple months ago to ask if we had anything cool up our sleeves that we might want to show off for this year’s Hype Hotel at SXSW, we promised that we’d bring something awesome to Austin.

Over 2000 videos and way too many Locos Tacos (#feedthebeat!) later and we couldn’t have been happier with how our latest Lensley Video project came together.

Since Vine launched earlier this year, we’ve been obsessed fascinated by the potential and ramifications of the popularization of short-form looping video, especially as an extension of (but distinctly different from) the animated GIF aesthetic. We’d also been playing around with various backdrops and treatments, and after digging through our toybox and iterating through some wacky ideas, we ended up with something that we think was both a fresh take on the photo/videobooth experience that really fit in with the Hype Hotel creative/vibe, and that also showed off what Lensley can bring to the table for high-end events.

Combining all the traditional Lensley strengths of providing a fully-branded, super fun, and totally social experience, guests made their own 6-second looping videos that they could instantly SMS, email, tweet (and retweet!), and then preview, post to Vine (yes!) and make a custom 9-frame print at a separate “Vine Station.” We also adapted our galleries to make the videos mobile friendly (trickier than you’d expect), and to provide our standard downloads and sharing to Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr. And to top it all off, we worked with the Hype crew to generate a very trippy, wall-projected visualization.

Of course, all of this is moot if people aren’t having a good time with it. We’re happy to report that the results from the wild show that not only did people seem to have “fun,” but that we also observed a significant percentange that appeared to have “brought it.”

Be sure to hit the gallery to check out the rest of the vids, there are some real gems in there.

We also wanted to give a quick shout out to everyone that helped make this our biggest SXSW yet. Thanks to American Airlines, BBCA, The Frye Company, DIRECTV and all the folks that helped make it all happen.

And of course, thanks to everyone who stopped by at any of Lensley experiences this year. Hope y’all had fun because we had a blast.

Stay weird, Austin and we’ll see you next year!

Lensley takes off with American Airlines!

This year at SXSW, Lensley partnered up with American Airlines to make their #newAmerican lounge in the Convention Center an unforgettable stop for festival goers! After getting a massage, or charging up their phone, #newAmerican lounge visitors were able to take a single shot photo with a custom-wrapped Lensley Automatic device. After getting a print to keep for themselves, guests were able to share their snapshot on all their social media channels — an absolute must during SXSW!

The fun didn’t stop there! Each Lensley photo was also sent in real-time to an onsite photo wall which featured a digital mosaic made up of tweets from people using the hashtag #newAmerican. This incredibly cool and dynamic piece of art was possible because of our partners at Hyperactivate’s Hashtag Art. At SXSW making a big impression is key, and Lensley Automatic delivered!

Bud Light : Port Paradise Music Festival

The Bud Light Port Paradise Music Festival was an epic three day event in the Bahamas with concerts taking place at the Atlantis Resort in Nassau, and on the private island of Coco Cay. As if a couple concerts in paradise weren’t enough, all attendees were guests aboard two full sized cruise liners! Lensley was out in full force for this incredible event, with 22 devices capturing everything on land and sea.

Lensley decked out each cruise ship with loads of Lensley Automatic RFID technology. Once guests took a photo with a Lensley device, or were caught by the roaming photographers, they simply tapped their pre-registered RFID wristbands, and their photos uploaded directly to Facebook!

Festival goers were also able to keep their Facebook friends up to date by using the Lensley RFID Status Devices, which displayed various Facebook status update options to chose from. Guest could choose a status update, tap their wristband and voilà — their Facebook status was immediately updated!  (And friends at home were immediately jealous.)

And as a bonus, every time guests used a Lensley photo or status device they were automatically entered to win some rad Port Paradise gear. The more they used the devices, the higher their “rank” and the greater their chance of winning!

Our roaming photographers were busy all three days, catching all the excitement! They could be found each night in the Platinum Lounge, aboard the ship during a White Party, and roaming the beach on Coco Cay. Guests were able to get their photos snapped by the photographers, and uploaded to Facebook with a quick tap of their RFID wristbands. Simple as that!

Port Paradise was an unforgettable few days in paradise, and Lensley brought an equally epic, TOTALLY custom, photo & social RFID solution to make sure the online social presence was always turned up to 11!

Macy’s had a few in-store events featuring Armani Jeans, and Lensley was there to capture everyone in their hottest looks!

Lensley took this show on the road, activating over three weekends at Macy’s in Los Angeles, Orange County and Las Vegas.  Of course, once guests got their photo snapped, they were able to instantly send the photos to themselves via Lensley’s integrated social sharing.  Natch!

ELLE, Revlon, and The Purse-uit of Power

0020-1horizontal1

ELLE Magazine teamed up with Revlon to present “The Purse-uit of Power”: a $3,000 Power Purse giveaway containing everything you would ever need to tackle your day in style. To celebrate the bag drop, a reveal event rewarded all purse hunters who made it to the secret location with makeovers, manicures, product samples, and the chance to appear on the “cover” of ELLE, courtesy of Lensley!

Using a custom branded digital overlay, the Lensley Automatic device snapped the guests’ photos, and just like that, Lensley transformed ELLE readers into cover page material! One quick print later, and guests were able to commemorate their front-page day.
