Lincoln: Hello, Again

Earlier this year, The Lincoln Motor Company celebrated the launch of  ”Hello, Again,” a multi-platform program supporting reinterpretations of iconic works resulting in fresh, new creations. The kickoff celebration took place on the Twentieth Century Fox Studio lot and featured the new Lincoln MKZ and a vintage Lincoln Zephyr, with Lensley there to capture some great moments.

wristbands

Each guest was given a custom printed RFID wristband that was registered with their name and email address (either in advance or on-site), allowing the whole experience to be personalized and shared. When they entered the event, guests’ wristbands were scanned with a smartphone prompting their name to appear instantly on a projected screen, under the words, “Hello, Again” as they made their way into the main event space.

To top it off, the brand new Lincoln MKZ that was featured at the event wasn’t simply gorgeous eye candy — Lensley turned it into an automotive photo booth! Lensley set up an in-car photo solution, using a remote-triggered camera, to capture guests in the driver (and passenger) seat! And of course, Lensley ambassadors were on hand to help guests through the entire process. Once a photo was chosen, guests tapped their wristbands on a 7-inch tablet, automatically delivering their photo (complete with social sharing links!) to them via email.

The interaction didn’t end there! The 360° display room featured a real-time projected slideshow of images taken that night. Our friends at Soho Events captured some great video of the whole evening, which you can see on their website here.

(Oh, and did we mention that the “Hello, Again” event featured Beck performing Bowie’s iconic “Sound and Vision” with a 167-piece ensemble? Yeah.)

It’s a bird… it’s a plane… it’s Lensley!

The unveiling of a new aircraft is a momentous occasion — and the event celebrating it had to be equally epic. So Lensley headed north to Washington to make sure our client captured it in style!

The event in Washington was an opportunity for the employees and engineers who worked on the plane to celebrate their new aircraft. Lensley set up 12 Lensley Automatic devices around two airplanes, positioned with a specific section of the plane in the background, so employees could pose in front of the various elements they worked on. Even with all these machines the lines got long, and over the course of a very long day (all three shifts!), we shot over 4000 employees.

Each of the 12 Lensley Automatic devices displayed a real-time slideshow on a large screen. To top it off, all the images (from the 12 devices) were fed to a massive LED wall (and the live webstream) so everyone could see the fantastic results. Once employees had their photo taken at a Lensley device, they were also able to email the image to themselves, and share it to their preferred social channels.

The weather was typical of the Pacific Northwest — cold, rainy, and with winds gusting over 50MPH — but neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays Lensley from delivering your photos.

Have an ambitious event of your own to shoot? Drop us a line, we can make it happen.

Lensley @ Hype Hotel 2013

We’re always cooking up fun new stuff back at Lensley HQ, so when our friends at Hype Machine dropped us a line a couple months ago to ask if we had anything cool up our sleeves that we might want to show off for this year’s Hype Hotel at SXSW, we promised that we’d bring something awesome to Austin.

Over 2000 videos and way too many Locos Tacos (#feedthebeat!) later and we couldn’t have been happier with how our latest Lensley Video project came together.

Since Vine launched earlier this year, we’ve been obsessed fascinated by the potential and ramifications of the popularization of short-form looping video, especially as an extension of (but distinctly different from) the animated GIF aesthetic. We’d also been playing around with various backdrops and treatments, and after digging through our toybox and iterating through some wacky ideas, we ended up with something that we think was both a fresh take on the photo/videobooth experience that really fit in with the Hype Hotel creative/vibe, and that also showed off what Lensley can bring to the table for high-end events.

Combining all the traditional Lensley strengths of providing a fully-branded, super fun, and totally social experience, guests made their own 6-second looping videos that they could instantly SMS, email, tweet (and retweet!), and then preview, post to Vine (yes!) and make a custom 9-frame print at a separate “Vine Station.” We also adapted our galleries to make the videos mobile friendly (trickier than you’d expect), and to provide our standard downloads and sharing to Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr. And to top it all off, we worked with the Hype crew to generate a very trippy, wall-projected visualization.

Sweet Viz

Of course, all of this is moot if people aren’t having a good time with it. We’re happy to report that the results from the wild show that not only did people seem to have “fun,” but that we also observed a significant percentange that appeared to have “brought it.”

Be sure to hit the gallery to check out the rest of the vids, there are some real gems in there.

We also wanted to give a quick shout out to everyone that helped make this our biggest SXSW yet. Thanks to American Airlines, BBCA, The Frye Company, DIRECTV and all the folks that helped make it all happen.

Lensley @ Hype Hotel

And of course, thanks to everyone who stopped by at any of Lensley experiences this year. Hope y’all had fun because we had a blast.

Stay weird, Austin and we’ll see you next year!

Macy’s + Armani Jeans

Macy’s had a few in-store events featuring Armani Jeans, and Lensley was there to capture everyone in their hottest looks!

Lensley took this show on the road, activating over three weekends at Macy’s in Los Angeles, Orange County and Las Vegas.  Of course, once guests got their photo snapped, they were able to instantly send the photos to themselves via Lensley’s integrated social sharing.  Natch!

ELLE, Revlon, and The Purse-uit of Power

ELLE Magazine teamed up with Revlon to present “The Purse-uit of Power”: a $3,000 Power Purse giveaway containing everything you would ever need to tackle your day in style. To celebrate the bag drop, a reveal event rewarded all purse hunters who made it to the secret location with makeovers, manicures, product samples, and the chance to appear on the “cover” of ELLE, courtesy of Lensley!

Using a custom branded digital overlay, the Lensley Automatic device snapped the guests’ photos, and just like that, Lensley transformed ELLE readers into cover page material! One quick print later, and guests were able to commemorate their front-page day.

“Trade Up Your Cup” With CBTL!

On National Coffee Day, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf celebrated with the “Trade Up Your Cup” event, where customers were allowed to exchange any new or used coffeemaker for a new single serve CBTL Kaldi Machine. Lensley was on site at the Sunset Strip location to capture everyone with their brand new machine (the line stretched around the block!).

In typical Lensley fashion, guests were able to quickly share the photos on their social media channels. New coffee machine & a sweet photo? Talk about a trade up!

Lensley for The Roxy: 2012 Sunset Strip Music Fest

We had a great time hanging out with The Roxy crew this past weekend for the Sunset Strip Music Fest. Three days of music, madnes, and food trucks. We can’t wait until next year.

How Many People Does It Take to Fill Up a Lensley?

The Lensley Challenge is up and running… wedding, opening, bat mitzvah… it doesn’t matter!  We want to know how many people you can get in a single shot:)  We thought we were doing big things with our first challenge, a wedding where they managed 12 people!

We were soon corrected, though, because the very next event got 16 friends, family and folks squeezed together and piled high in a smiling mass of humanity for the Lensley;)

Not to be outdone, the UCLA fan event pushed the bar higher, staging a Challenge-high 18 people in one sitting.  (We let it slide, even though they used chairs and posed their picture because they knew what was coming!)

Then there was the BOOM! Nike Mall of America Opening where Minnesotans blew the lid off the challenge!  From 18 we went to 21 then to 26 then to THIRTY_THREE people in one shot!  And these were strangers to each other, just a bunch of people willing to put their faces in the camera for a piece of immortality:)

The question is… How many people does it take to fill up a Lensley Automatic? And can you get them all in?!

One Perfect Cup

When Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf wants to launch a new product, they know they have to have Lensley capture the moment!  Set up in a quaint office off the beaten path, and projected on a 62” HD screen just off the dance floor, Lensley cranked up the feedback on fun all night long…

From reluctant floor managers to glamorous spokesmodels, Lensley put the party in perspective: from taking a break to searching for beverages; meeting new friends to gathering the old; lurking in the background to distilling their essence, everyone took a turn with the Lensley.

And it brewed up to one perfect cup.
